The HitchSafe slides into your current standard 2" Hitch Receiver on your Truck, SUV or Van and is secured inside the Receiver Hitch via two bolt retaining bars inside the HitchSafe. The Hitch Receiver itself is a solid steel vault that combined with the HitchSafe provides the most secure location on your vehicle to store spare keys, credit cards, cash and driver's license!! To access your keys you simply release the Rubber dust cover (made to look like any normal Hitch Cover), enter in your personal 4 number dial combination, which then releases the drawer and allows access to your keys, cards or more... The HitchSafe easily installs/uninstalls in seconds with no tools required! Great for outdoor activities where taking keys along is a hassle or they can become lost. This solution is far superior to the magnetic key holders that fall off at the first bump. If your magnetic Hide-A-Key has not joined the millions of them laying on the side of the road, you then have an open invitation for someone to steal your car because everyone knows where they are hidden! The HitchSafe is contained within the solid steel structure of the Hitch Receiver via a combination where only YOU can access your keys when needed.
The newest revision of the HitchSafe (launched August 1, 2011) requires a different drawer style and the prior drawer is not compatible with this system. To know if you have the new style of HitchSafe: See photo to the right: 1. The drawer itself is different with each corner having an angle notch out of it 2. The "A" new version of the HitchSafe has two rivets on each side to secure flange to extruded vault. 3. Inside the Vault portion of the HitchSafe above the spring on the back wall (A3) will have the following version code with 2011 or newer being the new version HS7041 AL-215-311 2011 4. A1- The bolt release flat bars will be flush with opening 5. A2- There will be no screws on each corner and they will be flush with the opening as well.

The 2005-current Toyota Tacoma's and 2007-current Tundra's have an extra band of metal wrapped around the receiver that require longer bolts. These longer bolts also work on the 2.5" receivers with adapter insert.
These are the standard pins that are included with a HitchSafe.
